This is indeed cheering news for family, friends and fans of the late gospel music star, Irikefee Obarike, famously known as Kefee as report reaching us indicates that the remains of the Branama Queen would soon arrive the country as the executive governor of Delta State, Emmanuel Uduaghan has settled all the bills she accumulated at the hospital in the United States.

The news of Uduaghan’s intervention came as a surprise to many, as many had seen the politician and the late singer as enemies. It was believed that Kefee campaigned against the re-election of the Governor and went as far as recording a jingle for opposition Guber candidate, Great Ogboru in 2011.

Earlier, Nigerian community in Las Vegas had issued a statement, appealing for the release of the body of the late singer. A statement signed by its president, Mr Festus Ebonka, said, “we appeal to Nigerians to help take her remains back home. Lots of protocols here and there to follow. It’s not a simple process. Her husband is devastated and not ready to speak yet.

Kefee died on June 13 from lungs failure after 15 days in coma at Desert Spring Hospital, Las Vegas.

Try listening to Sugar Rush and singing Mavin’s Dorobucci lyrics to it to see how it sounds like you are singing to Dorobucci’s instrumentals itself.

Don Jazzy has said he doesn’t think the two songs sound alike in anyway. But for me I think aside the artistes’ delivery on the two songs they sound exactly the same.

On Wednesday the 25th of June 2014, Francis Duru, Chioma Chukwuka Akpotha and Francis Duru were invited to the Victoria Island office of the institution to collect their scholarship awards.
 

An Excited Doris Simeon took to social media to make the announcement;

“It’s not just a honour but a joyful one to be among students of the National Open University. I’m glad for the honour bestowed on me and some of my colleagues and I would take the golden chance to not only promote the institution but also learn and be more informed.”

Heavily pregnant Nollywood actress, Uche Ogbodo, who has been in the States for some time now to have her baby, has just revealed in a new interview that her ‘marriage’ to Norway based ex footballer Ato is over.

Confirming the split to Stella Dimokokorkus, a tearful Uche, breathing heavily, explained that it wasn’t really marriage yet. She and Arthur Apo were only engaged, and now, she’s had to call it all off after she realized some shocking lies had been told to her. Read excerpts from her chat with Stella.

• Hello Uche, I have a few quick questions for you. I heard your barely a year old marriage has crashed, is this true?

 .. Well that may be true but what isn’t true is that it wasn’t really marriage yet because it wasn’t fully formalised, we were still in the process of formalising it when all hell broke loose, so I was merely Engaged to be married to Ato Ubby.  

• It was just an introduction? Why didn’t you clear that impression all this while?

…I just felt there was no need to do so because the wedding plans was to follow shortly, unfortunately it didn’t because things didn’t work out the way it should. I walked into a no-win situation.

• What happened?

This is really a hard question to answer, but all I can say is that barely one month into the engagement and in the process of planning a formal wedding I realized I had made the greatest mistake of my life. The foundation of the union was based on lies and deceit.. shocking lies. We had been dating for a almost year and I thought I knew it all but nothing prepared me for what unfolded.

Nigerian pop singer Adokiye has caused a social media storm by offering her virginity to Islamic militants Boko Haram in exchange for the return of hundreds of kidknapped schoolgirls.
A total of 276 girls were taken from the largely Christian north-eastern town of Chibok by the rebels, led by Abubakar Shekau, in April.
The majority of the schoolchildren remain missing, despite international pressure for their safe return – including the celebrity-endorsed #BringBackOurGirls social media campaign backed by Michelle Obama and David Cameron, among others.
However, the 23-year-old musician, from the country’s Imo State, took the protest to the next extreme.
“It is just unfair. They are too young. I wish I could offer my virginity in exchange,” she told Vanguard.

SAD!! Ritualists’ den owned by a pastor uncovered in Lagos, 8 kidnapped victims rescued

A ritualist den owned by one pastor Ernest Nwankwo, the General Overseer of Holy Family Ministry a.k.a House of Mercy was yesterday June 25th uncovered at Ogolonto area in Ikorodu, Lagos, with 8 victims rescued.

According to Vanguard, the den was discovered after a failed attempt by a woman identified as Mrs Rosemary Chukwu, a member of Pastor Nwankwo’s church, to kidnap her neighbor’s 7 year old son, Emeka Emmanuel to the den for rituals. Sources in the area said around 6.30 am yesterday, Mrs Chukwu lured the little boy who was on his way to fetch water from a well down the road and took him to her house where she locked him in the toilet. To keep her neighbors from hearing the little boy’s screams for help, Chukwu then instructed her own children to begin a prayer session which they did, shouting on top of their voices.

Trouble however started when the boy’s mother who stays four buildings from Mrs Chukwu raised alarm after she could not find her son. A search for the young boy began which Mrs Chukwu also partook in. Minutes into the search, Mrs Chukwu was said to have excused herself, went into her house and then came out with a box on her head, saying she was travelling. Suspecting foul play, some of the area boys instructed her to put down the suitcase which was opened and the unconscious body of the 7 year old boy was discovered.

A resident of the area, Oyetoye Gbemi who spoke with Vanguard said the area boys descended on her and she confessed it was her pastor who sent her

“She told us she was travelling to the village. But one of the area boys who was among the search party, ordered his colleagues to search the box. Immediately she heard that, she flung the box away and took to her heels. We all suspected something was amiss. When the box was opened, Emmanuel was found inside, half dead. The area boys descended on her and stripped her naked. On interrogation, she said her pastor, the General Overseer of Holy Family Ministry a.k.a House of Mercy, asked her to bring the boy. The area boysfollowed her to 319, Lagos Road, Ikorodu, where the church is situated, where they saw her pastor waiting for her. But on sighting the crowd, he took to his heels. But for the arrival of Policemen from Owutu division, the woman would have been lynched. The angry mob also attempted to set the church ablaze but were also prevented by the policemen. They, however, succeeded in torching some parts of the property.” he said

In the process of chasing the fleeing Pastor and burning some part of the church building, area boys forced open a door to a building at 7, Oshodi Street, which was directly at the back of the church building and owned by Pastor Ernest. To everyone’s amazement, men and women, eight in number, chained and looking frail were found in the building. The captives upon interrogation said they were kidnapped from various places like Ogun, Anambra, Bayelsa and Oyo states. One of the captives, a 50 year old woman said she was kidnapped while returning from a night vigil. One of the rescued victim, 52 year old man pictured above without a shirt said he was a commercial bus driver and was kidnapped two years ago.

Residents in the area said the building owned by the pastor had always been under suspicion as no one ever saw anyone coming out or going in during the day. They said most of the activities carried out in the building is usually done at night.

Police sources confirmed the arrest of Mrs Chukwu while her pastor is currently on the run.

WOW!!! Entertainment Industry unites for Kefee’s burial

Over 100 members of the Nigerian entertainment industry gathered on Monday in Lagos to strategise on ways and means of giving late singer, Kefee, a befitting burial.

Some of the notable faces at the meeting were, Nikki Laoye, Tosin Martins, Emem Ema, Tee-Y Mix, DJ Gosporella, Wamilele, Princess, , Perry Martins, Praise Machine, Mudi, Righteousman, Nene Soul Diva, Victor Gospogroove, Gordons and representatives from Kefee’s family.

Sammie noted that the death of Kefee has affected the Nigerian entertainment industry and the world over and not just the Gospel music community in Nigeria.

“Kefee was a major contributor to the development of entertainment in Nigeria and the industry will be there for her even in death. We are going to bury her as a queen and it would be nice for us to work together to make her burial a grand affair. It would also be nice to use this opportunity to get our acts together as Gospel artists and entertainers in general because that is what Kefee would love,’’ he said.

Also speaking, Tosin Martins, suggested that activities in honour of Kefee should extend beyond the immediate burial plans to include a more robust an annual memorial symposium and other events which promote the interests and passion of Kefee for posterity’s sake.

A committee called the ‘Kefee Memorial Committee’ (KMC) was thus constituted to plan the various events which would hold in Lagos and Sapele, the hometown of the late singer.

The members of the committee are: Sammie Okposo, Nikki Laoye, Commorade Rex Anighoro, Momodu Inu Noah, Tosin Martins, Anny Ibrahim, Joan Paul, Aity Dennis-Inyang, Emem Ema, Gbenga Akintokun, Tee-Y Mix, Tim Tehilla, DJ Gosporella, Praise Machine, Victor Gospogroove, Princess, Perry Martins, DJ Direal and journalist, Chilee Agunanna, who was Kefee’s publicist

The committee would plan towards befitting burial events in Lagos and Sapele and some of the proposed activities were a symposium and Service of Songs tagged ‘An Evening With Kefee’ in Lagos.

There would also be a documentary of the singer’s life and times; performances of her songs by other artists; Kefee memorial merchandise and a tribute concert in Sapele.

Kefee’s husband, Teddy Don-Momoh, monitored the proceedings of the meeting from the U.S. where he is preparing to fly home the body of his wife.

He once again pleaded for the privacy of the family to be respected in these trying times.

He observed that some of the stories written about Kefee since her death were mostly untrue and cited the reports of a pregnancy which didn’t exist and the story that her body had been flown home as very insensitive and mischievous.

He also stressed that some reports that claimed that he was stranded in the U.S. and soliciting for financial help through a bank account were lies.

Teddy said that, customarily, he would have to return home to Nigeria first, to be on ground to receive the body of his wife which would then follow afterwards.

He said he was finalising the required paperwork before Kefee’s body could be flown from the U.S. to Nigeria and once those were done, more details of the burial plans would be released.

Teddy said that Kefee’s family had requested that she be buried in their hometown, Okpara-Inland, Ethiope East local government, with a celebratory service in Sapele afterwards and that he was comfortable with that.

Those, according to him, were the only definite arrangements for his wife’s burial so far.

Kefee whose real name was Irikefe Don-Momoh (nee Obareki) was a well-liked Pop-Gospel artist who had been active in the entertainment industry for the past ten years. She was born on Feb. 5, 1980 in Sapele, Delta State and was known as the Branama Queen, in reference to her debut hit track and album, ‘Branama’. She also scored a hit with the track, ‘Kokoroko’, featuring Timaya and had four albums to her credit— ‘Branama’ (2003), ‘Branama 2’ (2005), ‘A Piece of Me’ (2009) and ‘Chorus Leader’ in 2013.

A Condolence Register has been opened for the singer at her restaurant, Branama Kitchen, at 11 Ajose Str., Mende, Maryland, Lagos.
