The bomb is believed to have been targeted at a prominent cleric.

An explosion has occurred in central Kaduna killing at least 10 people, a witness has said.
The blast occurred Wednesday afternoon along Isa Kaita road which leads to the popular Murtala Square.
A witness said the explosion is believed to have targeted the convoy of a prominent Islamic cleric, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, who was on his way to the Square.
The witness, Hassan Mohammed, told Forumspotz_crew that the bomb, concealed in a red Volkswagen golf car parked by the road side, was detonated as the cleric’s convoy drove past.
The sheikh escaped unhurt, the witness said.
“As I speak to you now, I can see many bodies on the ground,” Mr. Mohammed said.
The police could not be immediately reached.
But the witness said security and emergency officials have arrived at the scene evacuating the victims of the blast.
The blast is the second targeting Mr. Bauchi in Kaduna State. In June, an explosion occurred near his house, injuring one person.
The Sheikh is a known critic of the extremist Boko Haram sect. It is however not clear whether the group is responsible for the attack.
UPDATE: According to BBC, the police said 25 people were killed. While a local trader Yusuf Suleiman said he had counted 15 bodies in a police van after the blast.
UPDATE 2: Sahara Reporters says about another blast in Kaduna.
Details later…

See Photos: ‘British tourist’ caught having s*x in broad daylight between parked cars

The British like to have fun in weird ways! :-). Weeks after a British girl was filmed performing a sex act on 24 men in a night club in Magaluf, a major holiday resort on Majorca, Spain, another British couple have been filmed being really naughty.
A shocking new video filmed on a street in Magaluf has emerged showing ‘British tourist’ having s*x in broad daylight between two parked cars. They were captured on film for two minutes by someone recording them through a window. (Above are screenshots from the video)
The shocking footage, which was shared on Youtube (its since been removed), shows the couple, suspected to be in their 30s, unfazed as cars passed them. And when they finished, the man kneels on the ground as the woman slowly gets to her feet and re-arranges her mini-skirt before he passes her a tissue. They couldn’t get a room? Or it’s something they needed to cross off on their bucket list? Lol.

TOO BAD: No Time! Pakistani Police Cuts off hands of two men accused of theft! [Photo]
However,Ghulam Mustafa, 38, and Liaquat Ali, 42, accused police of hacking off their hands with a large butcher's knife, despite their innocence.Mustafa told Reuters from his hospital bed...
'Four or five policemen held me down and cut my hand. I fainted from the pain.Liaquat and I were arrested eight days ago after people falsely accused us of stealing and handed us over to the police who beat us and tortured us.Then on Friday, they did this.'

This looks like the work of an axe or similar tool. These are not self-inflicted wounds,Mustafa arrived with his hand cut off completely and one of the policemen carried it in a plastic bag.Ali's hand had also been cut but was still attached to his arm. 'We have sown Liaquat's hand back on but it will take weeks before we know if he will ever use it again"
TOO BAD!! No one took his threats serious! Read How a 21 year old man set himself ablaze out of frustration in lagos.
| Not actual photo |
His elder brother, Ebuka, was said to have seen him setting himself ablaze and raised the alarm.
A source said, “Nobody knows exactly why he took that decision. All we know is that he had been telling his parents he would kill himself, but they did not take him serious.
“On Monday, around 9pm, he went inside the house and poured kerosene on his body. He wet the bed with the kerosene as well, including the house. He then lit a matchstick and set everywhere on fire.”
Firemen from the Lagos State Fire Service, Ikotun division, were said to have been called by a resident.
They were said to have arrived the scene just on time with 10,000 litres of water with which they doused the flames.
The victim was luckily saved, but with a high degree of burns.
The Director of the state fire service, Rasak Fadipe, confirmed the incident, adding that parents should be wary of the comments of their children.
He said, “Parents must not lose guard of their duties to their children. Where a child has been threatening that he would kill himself, it is important that parents take such a child apart for counseling to avert tragedies.”
Nollywood director replies Genevieve Nnaji for describing Nollywood as blande and mediocre (Must Read)
Explaining the reason she’s been scarce in Nollywood movies for a while now, Genevieve Nnaji, in an interview with Punch over the weekend, said;
“I guess I haven’t found the right script yet. Creativity and depth are the qualities that I look out for in a script. In the beginning, the movie industry emphasised quantity but things are changing and there is an improvement in trend. I am among the people who advocate for the improvement of the industry. So said, I am constantly watching out for the kind of stories I take part in. I am in support of movies that show a great deal of professionalism and creativity. Having practiced my art in international & professionally produced stories like ‘Ije’; ‘Mirror boy;’ and ‘Tango with me’, I don’t think I can return to the blandness and mediocrity that characterized Nollywood in the past.”Well, one Nollywood movie director wasn’t happy about Genevieve’s description of their industry. In a statement released today, Mac Collins Chidebe (pictured right) said Genevieve should come and improve Nollywood instead of blasting the industry that brought her fame and fortune. What he said after the cut…
“Genevieve has just insulted the industry that made her who she is today and what effort has she made to help improve Nollywood? Those days in Enugu when Genevieve was growing in Nollywood, our movies were not rubbish; she has grown now, made money, fame, popularity e.t.c, how much has she invested in this Industry that made her? All the while she was busy waiting for Titanic scripts, Nollywood was trying their best to keep the flag flying waiting for her to come back and take the industry to the next level. Artistes should stop biting the fingers that fed them. We are watching and waiting for them to bring down heaven. We made them stars; we are waiting for them to come back and take the industry to the next level. Instead of blasting Nollywood, come and improve Nollywood.” Chidebe said

New research claims some people may be too fine to get sick SEE PHOTO
According to a new research, looks affect our risk of illness. Some people like Boris Kodjoe and Ms Darego may be too fine to to fall ill easily. The research, released this week by US researchers, claims attractive people are less likely to get tinnitus, asthma, diabetes, and high blood pressure.
The research claims the more physically attractive men and women are rated, the more unlikely they are to suffer from a wide range of health problems, from high cholesterol to depression.
They also feel healthier, have less time off work and are diagnosed with fewer physical and mental health conditions during their lifetime.
The findings are based on a study of 15,000 men and women aged 24 to 35 who have been followed since they were ten. It’s the biggest study yet to find links between attractiveness and good health, and the first to home in on a number of individual diseases.
The researchers, from the University of Cincinnati and other centres, point out that, until now, most studies have been on students.
Unlike earlier studies, this is based on the researchers’ ratings of the participants’ physical attractiveness done face-to-face, rather than assessments based on pictures, drawings or videos.
The researchers, whose work is being published in the journal Evolution And Human Behaviour, say that attractiveness may be a marker of good genes, which also signal good health, as well as increasing the likelihood of having healthy offspring.
The study involved face-to-face interviews and questionnaires, as well as an analysis of health data.
The men and women were quizzed about whether they had been diagnosed with various conditions or suffered symptoms of them.
Attractiveness rating was based on the assessment made by each interviewer after a 90-minute session. The men and women were put into five categories — very unattractive, unattractive, about average, attractive or very attractive.
There were direct links between attractiveness and a number of health conditions, and the more attractive the person was rated, the lower the risk of ill-health.
For each increase in the rating of physical attractiveness for men, there was a 13 per cent reduction in the likelihood of a diagnosis for high cholesterol, a 20 per cent drop in the risk of high blood pressure, a 15 per cent reduction in the probability of being diagnosed with depression, a 23 per cent decrease in the likelihood of an ADHD diagnosis, and a 21 per cent lower likelihood of stuttering. Women who were rated as more attractive were 21 per cent less likely to be diagnosed with high blood pressure, 22 per cent less likely to have diabetes, 12 per cent less likely to be asthmatic, 17 per cent less likely to suffer from depression, 18 per cent less likely to receive an ADHD diagnosis, 18 per cent less likely to stutter and 13 per cent less likely to have tinnitus.
Both the men and women who were rated as very physically attractive were also more positive about their own health and had fewer days off work due to illness.
They also had a reduced number of chronic disease diagnoses, of psychological disorders and of disease diagnoses overall.
The researchers suggest their findings support the theory that attractiveness is a marker of healthy genes.

[MUST READ] Why Nigerians Need To Be Grateful To The Late Sanni Abacha

This opinion below was first published by PunchOnline.
Former Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, unwittingly did Nigeria a big favour regarding our democracy. On May 29, 2014 Nigeria celebrated its 15 years of unbroken democracy in the Fourth Republic, which is about three times longer than the longest period of democracy we had had hitherto. If not for Abacha, this could not have been possible.
The First Republic had lasted five years and three and half months. The Second Republic lasted three years and exactly three months. That showed retrogression. After many postponements about handing over to the civilians, the Third Republic kicked off in a peculiar way: Gen. Ibrahim Babangida conducted governorship and legislative elections while he was still ruling the nation. That experiment, which started in 1991, was supposed to culminate in the conduct of the presidential election in 1993 and final handover to a democratic government.
Eventually, the presidential election held on June 12, 1993 was peaceful, free and fair, according to the reports of all observers. The electoral body began a state-by-state release of the result as collation was concluded in each state. Chief M.K.O. Abiola of the Social Democratic Party was ahead, winning in states which were assumed would be won by his opponent, Alhaji Bashir Tofa of the National Republican Convention. Then like a joke, the release of the results was suspended. While Nigerians were wondering what Babangida’s plan was, he announced the annulment of the election on June 23, 1993, to the consternation of most people. According to Babangida: “These steps were taken to save our judiciary from being ridiculed and politicised locally and internationally.”
It was obvious that the action was crisis-prone. Reacting to that infamous annulment, Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, had said: “A very tiny but powerful cabal is toying with the future of our nation. Any further delay in making the people’s verdict official is a deliberate cultivation of chaos.”
‘Senior Advocate of the Masses’, Chief Gani Fawehinmi, issued a statement, warning: “The nation is in danger. It is abundantly clear that the military government is leading Nigeria into a political crisis of immeasurable, chaotic proportions.”
Babangida gauged the mood of the nation and retired hurriedly with his tails in between his legs, handing over to an un-elected Interim National Government, led by Chief Ernest Shonekan. A chain of events led to the emergence of Abacha as the Head of State in a move which looked premeditated. Abacha initially gave the impression that he would reverse the annulment of the election. He bided his time, while gaining the trust and support of the people. Once he had dug in, he showed that he had his own plans, which did not include reversing the annulment or leaving the stage soon.
With Abiola declaring himself president in 1994, Abacha bared his fangs. Every day saw Abacha getting more brutal. People were arrested, demonstrators were brutalised and shot at by security agencies, newspaper houses were shut down at will, newspaper editions were confiscated, media houses were bombed, bombs were exploding at different places killing people, attempts were made on the lives of those suspected to be opponents of Abacha’s regime, like Chief Abraham Adesanya, the leader of the National Democratic Coalition, which was the key opposition group, and Mr. Alex Ibru, the publisher of The Guardian newspaper.
Some like Chief Alfred Rewane and journalist, Bagauda Kaltho, were not lucky, as they were killed. People were framed up in fathom coups or as “accessory after the fact of treason” and sentenced to death or life imprisonment, including Gen. Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, who died in prison; Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo, former Head of State; Mr. Shehu Sani, a human rights activist; Mrs. Chris Anyanwu, publisher of The Sunday Magazine. Many Nigerians fled into exile for fear of being arrested, framed up, or killed.
After the hanging of environmentalist and leader of the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People, Mr. Ken Saro-Wiwa, on November 10, 1995, Nigeria was sanctioned and isolated by many countries and groups. Rather than make Abacha reduce his viciousness, it got him fiercer. The only people who benefited from that global outcry were the purported coup plotters like Obasanjo and accessories like Anyanwu whose death sentence or life sentence was commuted to life imprisonment or 15 years imprisonment respectively.
When Abacha finally announced the transition to civil rule with the formation of five political parties, everybody heaved a sigh of relief that he would soon leave the scene. But all the hope evaporated when the five political parties began to name him their sole candidate one after the other.
Abacha became like a bone across the throat. Nobody knew what else could be done to ease him out. Nigerians resorted to prayers for divine intervention.
That divine intervention came on June 8, 1998, when Abacha suddenly died. Contrary to the respect Nigerians are known to accord the dead, Nigerians broke into celebration across the nation.
A sticker by a group called Concerned Professionals captioned the mood of Nigerians, at that time, towards military rule and dictatorship. The sticker said: Never Again. That was the favour Abacha did to Nigerians on democracy: He painted a horrendous picture of military rule that most Nigerians would not like to experience again. He showed the military dictatorship as financially reckless, morally bankrupt and managerially incompetent of handling a nation.
Until Abacha, any time there was a misunderstanding between political parties, the opposition parties would call for military takeover. It was believed that the soldiers were not as corrupt as the politicians, nor as managerially incompetent, nor as unpatriotic, nor as greedy. Even though the military was known to be high-handed, it was believed that their actions were motivated by the national interest.
But Abacha changed all that perception. It was obvious that his actions were motivated by his will to cling to power, and that he did not care whatever befell the nation in the process.
Many had rued Abiola’s non-inauguration as president. Looking back now and judging by the trend, Abiola could not have lasted in office beyond two years. The maximum he could have lasted was four years when he would have re-contested for the presidency in 1997. Complaints would have trailed his re-election and calls for military intervention would have rented the air.
Following the trend, since the First Republic had lasted less than 6 years; and the Second Republic had lasted for about 4 years; the Third Republic would have lasted for 2 years.
Nigerians are known for having short memories. Heroes soon become villains and vice versa. Abiola would most likely have suffered such a fate.
But the draconian regime of Abacha put the fear of living daylight into Nigerians. Even though the short memory of Nigerians still makes some people to occasionally praise the years of the military in governance, thereby asking for their return, yet the brutality of Abacha has continued to paint a terrible picture of military rule.
Those who lose election – no matter how below par the election is – always complain but do not publicly ask for the intervention of the military.
So, without meaning to, Abacha – supported by Babangida – had made our democracy last longer than it had ever lasted since our Independence in 1960. Our democracy may not be meeting our expectations to the fullest, but we must guard it jealously. No matter the shortcomings of democracy, it is much better than military rule. But we must eschew politics of suppression and intimidation or that of “If I can’t have it, let it be destroyed.”
If our democracy had been unbroken since 1960, there might have been brazenness from politicians, no doubt, but we would have been able to fashion out an effective way of running the affairs of the state.

Finally!!! The Fake Businessman Who Cordinated The Chibok Girls Abduction Has Been Arrested

In a statement released moments ago, the Nigerian military said it has arrested Babuji Ya'ari, (pictured above), who is described as the key actor in the Chibok girls abduction. Babuji, according to the military, was a member of the Youth Vigilante Group popularly known as civilian JTF, which he used as a cover to spy on the activities of the Nigerian security forces, acting as a spy & gathering information for terrorist group. The military also said Ya'ari has coordinated several deadly attacks in Maiduguri since 2011. Find the press statement signed by Maj. Gen. Chris Olukolade, after the cut...
A terrorists’ intelligence cell headed by a businessman who participated actively in the abduction of School Girls in Chibok has been busted by troops. The man, Babuji Ya’ari who is also a member of the Youth Vigilante Group popularly known as Civilian JTF which he uses as cover while remaining an active terrorist, also spearheaded the murder of the Emir of Gwoza. His main role in the group is to spy and gather information for the terrorists group.
Babuji has been coordinating several deadly attacks in Maiduguri since 2011, including the daring attacks on Customs and military locations as well as the planting of IEDs in several locations in the town.
The arrest of the businessman who is known to deal in tricycles has also yielded some vital information and facilitated the arrest of other members of the terrorists’ intelligence cell who are women. One of them, Hafsat Bako had earlier escaped to Gombe State to avoid suspicion but was tracked and arrested. Prior to her arrest, Hafsat coordinated the payment of other operatives on the payroll of the group. In her confession, she disclosed that a minimum of N10,000 is paid to each operative depending on the enormity of his task.
Another female suspect named Haj Kaka who doubles as an armourer and a spy for the terrorists group has also been arrested. Until their arrest, all the suspects actively operated a terrorists’ intelligence cell in collaboration with others still at large.
In another development, troops deployed in Goniri, Yobe State, over the weekend, had an encounter with terrorists, resulting in casualties on both sides after the attack was successfully repelled.
